PEOPLE-CENTERED INNOVATION
Today's healthcare industry is reactive. It's inefficient. Preventive care is not as effective as it could be. That's because today's healthcare model is built around hospitals and clinicians waiting for sick people to come to them.
Intel wants to shift the center of care from the institution to the person. We want to find ways to use technology to help assist prevention. We want to help clinicians identify a risk and intervene before an emergency room visit is required. We want to give patients simple access to information that can help them make smarter healthcare choices.
People-centered innovation starts with people-centered research. In 1999 Intel made a commitment to delivering research-based technology innovation for healthcare. Our social scientists travel the world, conducting ethnographic research from hospitals to homes to help us understand people's lives and identify unmet needs that technology might address.
The research is focused on improving care in clinical environments, advancing personal health technologies for the home, identifying new care models and work practices, and promoting standards and policies that enable innovation and interoperability across the healthcare ecosystem.
