We established the Community Advisory Panel (CAP) in early 1994. It consists of up to 16 community members who represent various local community groups and key interest areas in the wider community. Potential members who are invited to take part in the CAP and are expected to commit to attending for a period of not less than three years and typically not more than five years. The purpose of the panel is to ensure there is an active two–way flow of information and consultation between Intel and the community in which we work.
The CAP includes people who live near the Intel site at Leixlip, community members active in educational, social and business organisations, and people with a background in environmental health and heritage issues, as well as other community leaders. Two of Intel's senior managers participate in the panel. To ensure the agenda is not dominated by Intel, it is independently chaired by a skilled facilitator. The CAP meets approximately every two months to review new developments on the site, raise issues which may potentially affect the community, and help set the direction for Intel's community efforts.
Members who have retired from the CAP are invited to an X–CAP meeting once a year. This social gathering is an opportunity for everyone to stay informed and offer feedback to Intel.
